This was the last planned vacation / holiday in 2014 and a lot of time was spent on executing this one. The primary factors were - keep the budget low, have a week long break and don't bore ourselves during the process.
Basic plan was worked out, budget was kept low by using - AirBnB & suggestions from friends, packed enough food to ensure we didn't eat all 3 meals outside, borrowed necessary accessories from friends and family.
Reno - Mini Vegas, Gamble and see around
Tahoe - Skiing and Skiing only
Yosemite - Relaxed Sight Seeing and some body pampering!
Dec 26th - Drove from South Bay to Reno ( 5 hours drive - holiday traffic, break for coffee and filling gas). Spent the night in Peppermill Casino ( One of the best in Reno.) Very family friendly and have things for all ages! Dinner was good in the Bistro Restaurant and gambling was fun! We lost around $100 playing "Black Jack" till about 2 AM :-)
Dec 27th - Lost another $50 in Atlantis playing "Back Jack", lunch at a family run Mediterranean place "Naan & Kebab" and drove to Tahoe! booked for skiing classes in Diamond Peak Ski, picked ski rentals from Tahoe Dave and settled in into our cozy clean 1B/1B condo in north lake Tahoe! Enjoyed some nice home food - MTRs, wine , snacking etc
Dec 28th , Dec 29th - Just did Skiing, took a class the first day and second day explored by ourselves and finally learnt the basics of skiing! One the the most painful yet rewarding experiences!
Dec 30th - Drove from Tahoe to Yosemite. It snowed heavily and we did get glimpses of the beautiful south lake Tahoe and a scenic drive to Yosemite. Stayed at the Yosemite Rustic Bug Resort. They have common kitchen and an awesome cafe with loads of veggie options!
Dec 31st - Drove into Yosemite Valley, did a bus tour viewing - El Captain, Yosemite Upper & Lower Falls, Bridal Falls, Half Dome and few more! Saw some deer and coyotes on our way!
Jan 1st - Spa treatment in the Yosemite Rustic Bug Resort ( Sauna, Hot Tub, Rejuvenating bath) and drove back to home on a scenic road!!!
Felt as it we were starting our vacation when we came back :-)! loved it!!!
Looking forward to more exiting 2015!!!
