Independence Day Long Weekend - Monterey Bay Acquarium

So I had been to India for a month from mid May to mid June, Abhi had just come back from India on 1st of July and we hadn't planned anything for the Independence day weekend !!!! Well see, there are always exceptions ;-) Having said that, I definitely wanted to do something for many reasons -

1. We had spent almost 1.5 months traveling to and fro India and hadn't done something together during this time
2. I was bored!!! coming back to an empty home in US is the worst!!!
3. Abhi still had 4 days of vacation and was pretty good to do something [ little jetlag :-D ]

So we decided to do something which is short distance drive, 1 or 2 days long and something affordable.

We drove down to Monterey on Friday Morning, visited the Monterey Aquarium ( its very different from the ones I have been to in Huston & San Diego [Sea World] .) They have these special "Jellyfishes" which are a treat to see and makes you wonder the intricacies and complexities of our universe composition.

Sardines (fish) are a specialty in this region and there is a history of Sardines in connection with Monterey [Monterey Canning Company] . That was some education for us on a vacations :-). There is a small amphitheater in one of the out door floors of the aquarium and a small skit was acted by the people who work at the aquarium. The morale of the skit "How motivation and courage can make you successful :-)." We also sat through a documentary about the life of a Shark in the bay area and got to know some really cool geeky stuff about technology used for tracking this information and got an insight on why people are so passionate about such things!

We then explored the historic Cannery Row and got into a trolley bus to take a trail up and down Monterey downtown. Not really sure what we did for Lunch & Dinner ( if I don't remember, it probably means it wasn't that great.) Settled back into our room early ( since Abhi's jetlag had kicked in.)

Next day we drove to the pier port / Monterey downtown and much to our surprise witnessed an old fashioned Army camp and Parade by Army Families ( just guessing.) Explored the area around and headed to Carmel soon after that to have some awesome lunch !!!

That pretty much ended our quick short trip to Monterey (Carmel) !
